Great family own. Love the food and service
Great food as always. Still a little hole in the wall but authentic, definitely worth what you pay and more. If you have never been give it a try. There is also a great ice cream place in town btw
They serve hard to find Authentic Mexican Dishes, delicious!
Simply the best, nothing better around. The tamales are to die for. I had one and just had to order more to go before I left. Delicious!!
Awesome little place for take out or eat in. Amazingly fresh, authentic Mexican food. Fast service too!
Delicious food, and it came very quickly! There isn't much seating, so don't expect to come with a large group.
The food was good but the order was inaccurate. Got beef and ordered pork. Ordered mild and got hot. The girl taking my order was super rushed and seemed annoyed with me. No take out menus. Dirty tables. There are better other options in Kennett to be honest.
No frills, authentic Mexican with a unique menu. I like that you have the option of spicy or mild for certain dishes. BYOB so bring your favorite bottle of beer or wine.
Great quick fresh food. Large portions at great prices. Little hole in the wall on the edge of town. But my oh my!
I had THE BEST Mexican food. I even called out the cook to tell him how good it was. I got the chipped beef tacos, simply delicious!
Authentic Mexican food prepared when you order it. My only complaint is they (along with many other Mexican restaurants and food trucks in the area) use tilapia in their fish tacos. I love fish tacos but am not a fan of tilapia. They do offer shrimp as an alternative. If not for that I'd give them 5 stars.
Not a Manhattanicano-style fancy restaurant, but extremely delicious! Cozy atmosphere, fast and friendly family service.
Delectable, authentic Mexican fare in a down-to-earth, family-operated restaurant. I would personally recommend the Mexican sandwiches which provide a great bang for the buck due to the large portion size and incredible taste for the price.
I am so lucky that this place is only three blocks from my house! Tonight I had the burrito ahogado (drowning in salsa) with chorizo and the spicy red salsa. The guy taking my order warned me that the spicy is really spicy but I went with it anyway. This burrito comes topped with cheese, sour cream and avocado and really is drowning in salsa which I found to be about an 8 on a 10 scale with 10 being unbearably spicy. Loved it! Sides of rice and beans makes this a very satisfying meal. The menu says this comes with tostado chips, which were missing from my order but did not diminish my enjoyment. My wife ordered the fried fish filet platter which came with two decent sized filets, rice, red and green salsa and side "salad" of lettuce, tomato, onion and avocado. It is a very simple dish and not especially interesting or creative. Total opposite of my burrito. If this dish came off the menu I am sure most people would not miss it.
Some of the best Mexican food I’ve had! The steak fajitas were tender and the flavors were delicious. Very quick service too. 👍
The food is served very quickly and is very fresh and home style . Never disappointed in the quality and taste of food.
Great food awesome customer service.
Great place. Wonderful service and flavourful authentic food.
I was pleasantly surprised by the wonderful food. All homemade and delicious. Hot corn chips with fresh-made salsa. My chicken burrito was great! Don't let the facade fool you. This is authentic Mexican food.
Excellent food very clean building and nice people will be back next time I'm in town.
Solid 4 stars, good eats. Two of us shared an enchilada platter and 4 tacos. We were quite satisfied. The enchiladas had the mild red sauce and it was delicious. Tried 3 different taco meats and each was as good as the other. We would return here if we are in the area again.
I've been going to LA Pena for years. They have THE BEST tacos to be had in Kennett square. I highly recommend you try the pastor or the fish.
Great authentic Mexican Food. Very fresh, and a cozy place too.
My to go spot. Julian is an incredible chef. I am from Mexico and going there is like going home. Always freshly made delicious and authentic. Gracias Julián!
Straight hole in the wall place; I actually even almost passed it! Went in with the family. Food was tasty and came out quickly. My wife ordered steak fajitas - they were good, but probably what I liked the least (which is to say, I liked everything else more). I had two tamales - excellent. Kids all had various tacos (steak, chicken, and chorizo) - the chorizo was different than a lot of chorizo I've had, but still good.Overall, good place. Friendly folks who run it. I'd probably give this more of a 4.5 but am rounding up so I don't mess with the good rating it already has.
Delicious Mexican food inside this unique looking building on Cypress St in Kennett Square. The food is authentic and the restaurant is family run/family owned. They offer take out and table service with their full menu. I had the special platter with steak. I was expecting chunks of steak but instead received a well seasoned thin cut of steak.
Authentic Mexican food. Quick service. Everything made to order
Great Quality, was a little uncomfortable with no A/C ! Authentic !
By far the very next authentic Mexican food I've ever had. Hands down. Bar none. Amazing food, great flavor every single time. All other Mexican places pale by comparison. Try this place and you won't be disappointed. Especially if you like heat, which I do. If you say make it hot, they will. Best beef tongue tacos I've ever had. You have to ask for them tho. They're not on the English menu.
This place was amazing! I had the tamales and they were perfect! A new favorite for sure!
As a native from the barrios of Chicago, I can guarantee the authenticity of this food. The huevos rancheros were fantastic.
Great spot for Mexican food. It is small and isn't fancy but worth a stop. We go every other Month.
Love their food..highly recommend .
Stopped in really quick since it looked authentic and was not disappointed. The employees behind the counter were very friendly and the two tacos I had were amazing with absolutely heavenly tortillas.
Quick service. Delicious food. Reasonable prices
My wife absolutely loves the food. In particular the Tamale platter with beans and rice. There green verde is amazing as well. Hands down the best
Food was great the beans tasted like canned beans but service was great
First time trying their food. Very happy I did. Nice sized portions and very tasty. It all looked and tasted fresh. Their spicy sauce IS spicy and quite delicious! Guacamole was fresh and flavorful. Will definitely eat here again.Masks were worn by all employees. 👍
Good food for good price, friendly people...I heard of them on WIP 94.1 sports radio earlier this year
The food is very fresh. Enchiladas are very authentic, not cheesy and filling. We have been there several times and each visit is very good. We eat in but takeout is popular. Good prices.
Food was good. Nice atmosphere. I thought it was a bit too expensive but would go again.
Who would have thought that you could find some of the best authentic Mexican food in Kennett Square PA? Well La Pena has just that - I almost always order the Torta Sandwich , but their menu is extensive and has a lot of great options. Word to the wise: their tortas, tacos and burritos are always good, but their nachos aren't impressive.
Best in the area, hands down. The veggie burrito and quesadilla were fantastic. Staff is amazing.
Food was authentic and tasty! The store front doesn’t look great but it’s clean. Our boys both had the steak nachos, somewhat deconstructed, which was different because it wasn’t all piled together but good for the kids because they could control what was in each bite. The carnitas tacos and the chicken tacos were really good too. Ended up ordering seconds :)
To be straight forward, it lack quality. The food is really greasy, somewhat of a disappointing. I ordered two types of sandwiches- Cuban Torta, Tongue Torta and Barbacoa Quesadilla. The Tongue Torta meat was a bit over cooked, but was much better than the Cuban. The Quesadilla, was drenched in oil.I'm thinking the menu could be revamped.
Nice people, great Mexican food and good price!!!
Really really good food. Some of the best Mexican food I’ve had on the East Coast. Get the Beef Tongue Burrito.
Food is great here; authentic, inexpensive and they are BYOB. I go often as do many friends of mine who live in Kennett Square.
The food was fine however what caught my attention was the fact that in the middle of a pandemic (July 2nd) and a mandatory mask mandate in the state none of the three employees were wearing masks while cooking our food - unsafe and so irresponsible! I should have walked out as soon as I walked in and noticed it but I felt bad as the food was already done and was being packaged (again, without masks). Once I got the bag with the food, I questioned why none of them were wearing masks and got yelled at by the younger guy working the register. I will certainly not go back and would advise you to do the same for your own safety.
Food was fantastic!! Hole in the wall with the best food I’ve ever had. Service was not that nice though.
